Alonzo Robinson was born August 29, 1946 to Eddie and Ina Mae (Griffin) Robinson.
He was the youngest of 11 children. Lonnie, as he was lovingly called by his family,
attended Bessie E. Owens elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and Bakersfield High School.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving our country, where he was honorably discharged in 1969.
Lonnie later went to work for Santa Fe Railroad and worked for many years before retiring.
He was a very special person who was fun-loving and fearless. Whenever you were in his
presence you were guaranteed to hear a joke or two which kept everyone laughing.
He had a great love for jazz music as well as poetry.
Lonnie was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership
of the late Pastor Tyree Toliver and also Pastor Antonio Alfred. He was active in the Brotherhood
and enjoyed attending the church prayer retreats.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, two sons: Alonzo Jr., and
Sean Allen, and ten siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters: Lakeisha (Corey) Smith,
Theresa Robinson; three sons: Marzette (Belinda) Kinder, Devon Allen, Tenniro Wall; one sister:
Meedie Monegan. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
