Antonio Lorenzo Flores

July 19, 1963 — September 9, 2022

Antonio Lorenzo Flores passed away with his daughters by his side on September 9, 2022, in Bakersfield, California at the age of 59. Born July 19, 1963, in Bakersfield, Ca, Antonio enjoyed a childhood with his sisters and cousins in the San Fernando Valley, where he also attended elementary school. He spent his junior high years in San Jose, and moved back to Bakersfield during high school, where he was a student at BHS, and eventually graduated from Vista High in 1981. The summer after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jeannette, and soon thereafter, they welcomed their first child, Amanda, who was an only child for eleven years. In 1993, Juliette was born, and in 1994, Alexandra’s birth completed their family, making him the proud father of three beautiful daughters. Antonio was a man of many trades, but he spent his adult married life working four main jobs: an oil field worker, owner and operator of Tony’s Tree Trimming Services, a firefighter while serving time at Soledad Correctional Training Facility, and a construction worker with the Local 220 Labor Union. While working with the union, he was most proud of being a part of the North Kern State Prison and Bakersfield College Library building projects. He loved to play pool, competed in pool leagues, and participated in Las Vegas pool tournaments. He never missed an opportunity to take his family to the fair, and he put no limits on the amount of money they could spend there. He loved to barbecue for his family on the weekends, though he always seemed to undercook the chicken. He enjoyed watching Nascar and hated the Raider almost as much as he loved his Broncos. Watching football and pay-per-view fights with a room full of his friends and an ice chest of beer was his idea of a good time. Once divorced, he met Nina Aleman, his long-term girlfriend. During his time with her, he worked as a production manager at General Mills and retired from Weatherford, a job he truly took pride in. Once retired, he and Nina took on the role of caring for Julie’s two daughters while she worked. His true joy in life was being Papa to his four grandchildren. He loved to spend time with them, watching them play in the backyard, taking them to the fair, treating them to slushies and corn on the cob, buying them fireworks, and letting them know they were loved. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Reyes, his best friend, Frank Sendejo, his cousins, Irene Salas and Sandy Ramirez, his favorite uncle, Pete Campos, and his nephews, Rene and Michael Jordan. He is survived by his daughters, Alexandra Flores, Juliette Flores, and Amanda Pounds, husband Jeff Pounds; his former wife, Jeannette Flores; his girlfriend, Nina Aleman; his granddaughters, Adalyn and Janalyn Pounds, and Alayna and Alivia Flores, and his grand dogs, Smokey and Zoey; his nephew who he helped raise, Mario Garza, wife Maricela Garza; his father Juan “Clavo” Reyes; his aunt, Chris Campos; his sisters Isabelle Cruz and Sophie Jordan, brother in laws, Marcus Cruz and Rene Jordan, nieces Erika Rodriguez, and Gabrielle and Priscilla Jordan, and nephew, Julian Jordan.
