Carl Irwin Casey, 71, passed peacefully from this life on January 27, 2023 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ca. with his family by his side. He was born on July 5, 1951 in Firebaugh, Ca. to Joseph and Eva Casey. He was known for his ornery but lovable personality. For years, his fulfillment was found in driving a Sunday School bus where he could share his carefree positivity and love for God with many. Carl spent his golden years enjoying his family and friends. He was often found in the “well” of his home church, GBFPC, worshiping with all his might. Carl grew up in Firebaugh, Ca. He attended High School at Dos Palos High School but left school to enter the United States Army Airborne, where he finished his High School Diploma. He served in the Army for two and a half years. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a truck driver for many different companies over the past 50 years. Carl married the love of his life, Rhonda on May 18, 1973 in Delano, Ca. Rhonda was a member of Apostolic Gospel Church, where she played the accordion for several years. They were happily married for almost 50 years. Carl is survived by his wife Rhonda of Bakersfield, Ca.; his daughter Carla Turpin (husband Greg Turpin) of New Iberia, La.; his son C.J. Casey (wife Priscilla Casey) of Bakersfield, Ca.; his grandchildren Nakita Sloan (husband Matt Sloan), Dallas Turpin (wife Breanna Turpin), Avalea Hammond (husband Steve Hammond), Kynadee Casey, Rheagan Casey, and Pearce Casey.; his great-grandchildren Franklin Sloan, Raiden Hammond, Scarlett Hammond, and Harvey Turpin. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Joe Casey, his mother Eva Casey, his beloved stepmother, Mamie Casey, and his sisters, Norma Jean Murray, Shirley Borba, and Mary Jo Doughty. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Greater Bakersfield’s First Pentecostal Church located at 1418 West Columbus Street, Bakersfield, Ca. 93301 at 7:00 pm on February 6, 2023.
