Cary Sherrill

August 12, 1961 — May 10, 2024

On May 10th, 2024, Cary Duayne Sherrill, 62, of Arvin, California, stepped from this earthly life into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with his loving family by his side. Cary was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend born on August 12, 1961, to Cecil and Lois Sherrill in Bakersfield, California. He graduated from Arvin High School where he was very active in the Arvin High Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. After graduating high school, he met his first wife, Sharon. Cary and Sharon had two children, Jason and Andrew. After Sharon passed away in 2011, he met Kara, and they married May 14, 2011. After marrying Kara, Cary became dad to two more wonderful kids, Kandice Hernandez and Marcus Cerna, whom he loved as his own. Cary worked as a supervisor in the family business for over 25 years. He loved playing in the worship band at his church, Open Door Church. Cary was also involved in many bands around Kern County. He loved hunting and fishing with his kids, grandkids, nephews, and friends. Cary was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Sherrill. He is survived by his wife, Kara; daughter, Kandice Hernandez and husband Michael; sons, Marcus Cerna and fiancé Jasmine, Jason Sherrill and Andrew Sherrill; and his four grandchildren, Kaleah, Beckham, Brantley and Kailo; father, Cecil Sherrill; sister, Sheri Henderson and husband Rodney; nephews, Evan Henderson and wife Elexa and Eran Henderson and wife Annie; and many other beloved family member and friends. A service will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00am at Open Door Church, 4401 Ride St, Bakersfield, CA 93313. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306
