Charles David Nunley Sr.

David was born on May 21st, 1962 in Huntsville, Alabama. He moved to Bakersfield, California in 1970, where he later attended East Bakersfield High from 1976-79. He worked as a welder in the oilfields here in Kern county for over 40 years. In his later years he became a welding instructor as well. 

David was the definition of a family man. After raising his 6 children, he and his wife went on to love and spoil their grand kids. On the weekends he spent his time at their many sporting events cheering them on! He played on an APA pool league for 15 years as well, where he won many championships. He raced for many years out at the Bakersfield speedway. David was also known to tear up the dance floor with his wife over the years. He was the most loving, hardworking, caring man and always the funniest guy in the room. To know him was to love him. 

David went on to be with the Lord on November 22nd, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother Mamie Magdline Kennamer, father Charles Willis Nunley and step father Peter Gulling. 

David leaves behind his wife of 36 years Lorie Nunley, children Crystal and Kevin Dixon, Amber Nunley, Kristina and Andrew Gonzalez, Leslie Nunley, David and Kassandra Nunley, Michael and Brittany Nunley, 21 grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Rickey and Stacy Damron, brother and best friend Eric Olds, father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Jerri Hobbs, sister and brother-in-law Michelle and Marvin Leist, brothers-in-law Joe Hobbs, Jim Hobbs and his many nieces and nephews. 

We will be hosting a celebration of life for David on December 16th, 2023 at 12 pm at Kern Agriculture Pavilion, 3300 E. Belle Terrace, Bakersfield, CA 93307.
