Diane Ramos

April 5, 1959 — May 1, 2023

Diane Ramos, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1st, 2023. She was born April 05,1959 to Daniel Gutierrez and Mary Gayton. She was a 1977 graduate of Arvin High School and attended Bakersfield College where she obtained numerous units in child development.

She began her career working as a daycare provider which she passionately embarked on for roughly 40 years. In 1984 she began working for TAP Migrant Center, followed by KCSOS and lastly for Community Action Partnership where she retired from on February 10, 2023.

Diane had a gift for working with children. She was patient, kind and compassionate, and her love for children was unwavering. Her nurturing personality made kids feel safe and secure. Her dedication and love for children was evident in everything she did. So much so that families drove from the next town just to have them under Diane’s care.

Diane is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 45 years, Gerardo Ramos. Her daughters Marina Ramos, Cesilia Ramos, Diana Servantes (Adam Servantes), son Gerardo S. Ramos (Sarai Rodriguez) and 8 grandchildren. As well as her brothers, Richard and Ernie Gutierrez; and vast extended family.

Diane was a wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and “second mother” to nieces and nephews. In her children’s younger years, she volunteered as a classroom parent assisting teachers with arts and crafts even attending the school cafeteria’s peach cobbler luncheon. She was an advocate for her children and often attending school functions to support and cheer them on. She was the cool mom that bused all the kids in her wagon.

As her children became adults, Diane often hosted family gatherings. She loved having everyone together during cookouts it was her favorite thing.

Since retirement, Diane enjoyed time with her grandchildren, picking them up from school and ending the night with a homecooked meal and freshly baked goodies.

Diane’s hobbies included baking, cooking, breakfast and lunch dates with family and friends. Traveling. Most recently, she enjoyed gardening and online shopping. Diane loved spending her time with her grand babies. She particularly loved reading them children stories and singing lullabies like “You are My Sunshine.”  She was a kid at heart when it came to all things Disney. Her favorite ride was “It’s a Small World.”  All she would talk about was her next Disney trip.

Some of the best memories of Diane include her hospitality and mouthwatering recipes. A few of her famous recipes included red velvet cake, Mississippi mud pie, homemade tortillas, potato salad, mole, chocoflan, lemon bars, empanadas, and sugar cookies.

Diane was comforting, funny, gentle, a good listener, loving, selfless, strong and a woman of faith!  She impacted many lives with these qualities!

The Ramos & Gutierrez Family wish to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported them during this time of loss. They thank you for extending your thoughts, prayers and love. In addition, they extend Their gratitude to the Basham Funeral Care and Harmony Baptist Church, and the ladies from Community Action Partnership; The Sterling Center, Primero Pasos and San Diego Center for their assistance.

Our mother, our Nana, Diane, will be greatly missed, but forever remembered!  ~ Family
