Dionicia Aleman Salazar

October 9, 1926 — July 7, 2022

On the morning of July 7, 2022, in the loving company of her family, Dionicia Nicha Aleman Salazar, 95, peacefully returned to God our Savior. Dionicia was born on October 9, 1926, in D'Hanis, TX, to Aniseto and Manuela Aleman. Dionicia fully dedicated her life to her husband, family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sisters, nephews and nieces. Dionicia married Jesus Salazar in 1946 in Gilroy, CA. On March 20, 1958, they married before God at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, where she was a faithful member until her death. Dionicia was a devout Catholic who deeply believed in the power of prayer. She was a warm and loving mother whose home was open to all family members trying to earn a better living. With little education, she inspired her children to learn and further their education, setting the foundation that allowed her family to accomplish The American Dream. In her home, one could feel the love and warmth emanating through the walls. Up until the age of 90 she continued to traditionally cook everyones favorite dishes with fresh, homemade tortillas and her delicious, brewed coffee available from 6 am til bedtime. Dionica had amazing strength and energy. No matter how tired Dionicia may have been, she would never allow anyone to leave her home without personally escorting them to their cars and giving them Gods blessings. Dionicia's social life included trips to the casino, playing bingo, and playing the game board of Aggravation, a family tradition she started in 1976 at her home to present. She enjoyed maintaining her flower beds, planting trees, and enjoyed the abundance of hummingbirds that would visit her garden daily. She was predeceased by husband Jesus Salazar, parents Aniesto and Manuela Aleman, sons Ines, Raymond and Carlos, grandson John Subia, son in law Fed Subia. Dionicia is survived by her daughters Sandra Canez (Rene), Annie Subia, Rosie Ontiveros, Yolie Rocha (Arturo), Carmen Armstrong (Bo), sisters Sally Neira, Mary Lopez and Bertha Perez. Dionicia leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, son-in-law Simon Ontiveros, as well as many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
