Loving us from heaven as our heavenly father called her home.
Dolores Marie Castro, November 29, 1954 - December 25, 2023. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Cousin, and Friend. She was survived by her husband Martin, her daughter Salina, her son John and daughter-in-law Monica, her daughter Angelina and her son-in-law Michael, ten grandchildren Derrick, Natalie, Rafael “Alex”, Cynthia, Alicia, Alex, Alyssa, Gabriel, Jacob and Adrianna and six great-grandchildren Derrick, Zayden, Dominic, Maximus, Madeline and Novalize. She was one of seven children, survived by her remaining siblings of four sisters and two brothers from her parents Santiago & Betty Castro.
Dolores was born in Columbus, Ohio, but moved to the Bakersfield/Lamont area around the time she turned a year old, as her father was in the Air Force and his time in the service ended and brought them home. Dolores made the Bakersfield/Lamont area her home for the next 68 years, where she lived with her husband Martin, of over 40 years.
One of the many things that Dolores liked to do was read books, it was not just that she liked to read, she “LOVED”
to read books. Her favorite authors included Nora Roberts, aka J.D. Robb and James Patterson. Nine times out of ten, if you were planning to buy her a book, you would soon find she had most likely already read it. As technology advanced, she could be found reading electronically on her “Nook”. She loved to have all the latest in new electronics, even if she didn’t have the patience to learn how to use them. When she wasn't reading, Dolores loved to watch television shows such as Law & Order, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. Finally yet importantly, she loved to go walking. She would often find herself walking the trails at Lake Ming, with her husband. She loved walking so much that even if she had driven her car to the store, she would walk home, forgetting that the car was in the store parking lot.
Dolores was a legal secretary and enjoyed working for the same law firm for over 15 years. Dolores was very dedicated to her job and loved working with people. She would pour herself into work to make sure the clients received the best service.
Dolores was a rock and a pillar of strength for her family. She was tough when she needed to be, but would also literally give you the shirt off her back, if you needed it. She was a woman that had integrity and would always try to do the right thing. She would support her family to the ends of the earth and would always go above and beyond to make sure they had what they needed. She was strength! It did not matter where or when, she would do whatever was necessary, because she knew who she was and no one was going to tell her otherwise.
Finally, there is one thing that everyone who knew Dolores knows and that is she LOVED her Diet Dr. Pepper. We know she has already made her request to God for a case of 2 liters and we already got the message and are making sure she has a supply.
Dolores will forever be remembered in our hearts, her hugs, her smile, her voice and her kindness. She was fire and she will be missed immensely, until we all return to God.
"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."
