Doris Mavell Rollins

Doris Marvell Rollins was born in Charleston, West Virginia on January 14, 1931. Her parents, Belle and Russell Lewis moved from West Virginia to Oklahoma to San Diego and eventually to Bakersfield where Doris attended High School. While in school she met Offord Lee (Buddy) Rollins. They were married on December 27, 1947, and their union was blessed with six sons.

Doris was very involved in her sons lives and served on the PTA, as Den Mother for their Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops, and attended their many sports activities. Along with her husband Buddy, she helped to establish the Emancipators Drum Corps, giving local kids the chance to participate in a band.

As a licensed cosmetologist, she won first place in an L.A. County styling competition. She loved animals and any lost, abandoned, or runaway dog or cat who found her house found a forever home with Doris. Doris was an enthisiastic collector who generously shared her knowledge and finds with others.

Doris was preceeded in death by her beloved husband Offord Rollins, and leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Offord II, Dwight, Guy (Carmen), Rickey (Darletta), Bernie (Carmen), Lesley (Lorraine), and foster son Willie Bailey, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished family friends.
