Eufemia Garza

Eufemia Garza passed away on August 17, 2022, in Bakersfield, California at the age of 84. She was born October 28, 1937, in Tamaulipas, Mexico to Octavio Gonzalez and Martina Moya Eufemia eloped at the young age of 18 years old to Toribio Garza Sr. They were happily married for 60 years. They moved to Shafter, California in 1994 after living in Colusa for many years. In addition to raising her children she was an agricultural worker. Eufemia thoroughly enjoyed tending to her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She had much joy gardening, cooking, baking and visiting her family, relatives and family in Christ in Northern California. She loved her children, grandchildren, family very much. She was active in her church, La Rosa De Saron in Shafter serving throughout the years. Eufemia loved praising and singing to Jesus, listening to gospel coritos and loved to spread God’s word everywhere she went. Eufemia is survived by her sister, Elva Garcia of Houston, Tx, son, Elias (Margarita) Garza of Shafter, CA, daughter, Martha Alcaraz of Maxwell, CA, nine grandchildren, Daniel Garza, Mark Garza, Diana Garza, Adrian Garza of Shafter, CA, Emily (Grant) Mayberry of Yuba City, CA, Silvia (Tony) Avalos of Bakersfield, CA, Angelo Alcaraz and Samuel Alcaraz of Maxwell, CA and Elias Garza, Jr of Shafter, CA and 5 great-grandchildren. Eufemia is preceded in death by her son, Toribio Garza Jr. and her loving husband, Toribio Garza Sr. Funeral services will be held at Basham & Lara Funeral Care located at 343 State Ave. in Shafter, CA. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 4 –8 p.m. Formal service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10 am. Burial services will follow the formal service at the Shafter cemetery.
