Eula Mae Hambrick Lawhorn

July 16, 1937 — September 11, 2023

Eula Mae Hambrick- Lawhorn, 86, born in Checotah, Oklahoma, July 16, 1937- September 11, 2023 Bakersfield, California. Eula moved to Sunset Camp, California and later attended Arvin High School, Class of 1955. Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lawhorn of 54 years. Eula is survived by her sons and their wives, Keith and Kim, Dan and Carrie, Jody and Sandy Lawhorn. She has 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived in death by her sister Wanda Ruddick and brother Tony Hambrick. She is preceded in death by siblings, sister Joellen, brother Jack, and twin sister Beula.

Eula was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She enjoyed cooking large family meals to feed her boys and any one who could smell her home cooking. Her Mississippi mud and chicken and dumplings are unmatched and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She always provided support and care for her family through her love of the kitchen.

Eula was a compassionate person who loved caring for others. She dedicated her life to the congregation of the Church of Christ and their Sunday school class. She loved to cook for the church potlucks. She enjoyed spending her younger summers at Yosemite Vacation Bible Camp. She was always happy to take the church youth to local convalescent homes to sing and share fellowship. She has made 1000’s of friends throughout her life as a strong, dedicated Christian woman.

Eula also spent many years working at the College Heights branch, Bank of America. She had many fond memories of her bank branch coworkers, their clientele, and reconciling accounts. She always spoke very fondly of those days and enjoyed retelling her grandchildren of her days as a teller. She maintained a lifelong friendship with Lela DeHart.

Eula greatly enjoyed her time volunteering at both Orangewood and Edison School Districts in her granddaughter's classrooms. She spent time volunteering in the cafeteria, doing supervision on the playground, and helping children to read in the library.
