Harold Rue

Harold Gene Rue was born on January 14, 1947, in Bakersfield, California at KMC. He peacefully
Passed away on March14, 2024, in Bakersfield, California surrounded by family. Harold was a 
beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Harold’s early career included working as a Security Guard at Candlestick Park for the 49ers in 
San Francisco. He then worked as a Welder in Richmond, California, at a Shipping Yard, where he
learned the trade. His third job was at PG&E as a welder. After injuring his back, he went to school.
to learn drafting and reading blueprints, which led to the invention of a Perpetual Electric Motor 
that ran on Mercury, making him a trailblazer in his field. Harold also worked as a Salesman for 
Bestline, where he became a Regional Manager and won a trip to Paris, France. During this trip he
Learned that “Rue” meant “street” in French and gained a deeper appreciation for his heritage.
Next, Harold purchased his own Semi truck and worked for Mayflower. He then moved to 
Bakersfield and became a Pipeline Rig Welder and Self-Contractor for Rue’s Welding. He became a
legend in Pipeline Welding in the oil fields, known for his speed and skill. Harold then moved to 
Oregon and worked for Boise Cascade and retired from the company. 

Harold was the son of Howard Eugene Rue and Henry Lee Rue. He is survived by his loving wife Margie, his devoted sons.
Vernell and Shomari, his cherished daughters Takiyah and Jamilah, and a host of brothers 
and sisters. Harold’s family meant everything to him, and he was deeply devoted to their well-being.
Harold had a special bond with his mother, visiting her weekly when she was alive. He passed on.
his knowledge and skills to his oldest son, teaching him to weld. He emphasized the importance of
education to his daughters and strove to be an example for all his children. Throughout his life, 
Harold faced adversity with courage and determination, emerging victorious time and again. His 
family was his greatest motivation, and he worked tirelessly, to provide for them. Although he may
not have always expressed it verbally, his love for his family was unwavering. 
Despite any regrets he may have had, Harold never once considered his wife or children to be 
among them. In his final moments, he expressed feeling like life was a joke, because he no longer
felt useful to his family due to his failing health. However, his family will always remember him as a 
man who loved them deeply. Harold’s legacy of love, strength, and resilience will live on in the 
hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted family
man. When asked how he accomplished all he did in his life, Harold credited God, saying “God 
guided me and gave me my gifts.
