James Haskell Young

November 7, 1933 — June 4, 2023

The obituary preserves the legacy of James and captures what made James special.

James Haskell Young, lovingly known as Jim, was born on November 7, 1933 in Crowder, Oklahoma to Susan Elizabeth Carter and James Young. James moved to California in 1936 and lived at Digiorgio Farms and met his lifelong partner, Nadine Dawson. James and Nadine had a whirlwind courtship and were happily married for 73 years.

James prided himself on his occupation as a quarry supervisor for over 25 years at the National Cement Plant where he was highly respected and loved by his co-workers. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his five boys and grandchildren. James used his ingenuity and creativity to make some of his on lures and invented water flippers which he was very proud of.

James extremely enjoyed playing Texas hold-em whenever he got a chance and was quite skilled at it. James was never at a loss for words or conversations; he always had stories to tell.

James is survived by his wife, Nadine Young; his five sons, Arnold Young, Wayne Young, Dwight Young, Brian Young, Barry Young and his seven grandchildren. James will always be in our hearts and remembered as a very intelligent, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
