Jose (Joe) R. Garcia passed away April 21, 2023 with his family by his side, at the age of 87. Joe was born on January 12, 1936 to Severo and Susanna Garcia in San Antonio, Texas. His family moved to Lamont, California when he was 8yrs old where they stayed and made their home.

Joe went to school at Di Giorgio elementary and Arvin High schools. He worked in the fields where he made and kept many longtime friends. Joe had to quit school at an early age to help with the family but went back to school and received his diploma at the age of 35.

When he wasn’t at work, he would build various projects around the house, including building benches with tables, foot stools for the great-grandkids and almost about anything they needed. Dad was a collector of model airplanes, and had a deep interest for space, history and taking pictures of nature. He had a love for golf, football, baseball especially the LA Dodgers.

In 1957 he met and married his wife Pemma in August 1958 and remained married to her up to his death, they were married for 64 years. Joe and Pemma had 6 children, Mark, Daniel, Leonore, Joseph, Nick, and Loretta. Followed by 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and one great granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Pemma, son Mark and wife Lydia Garcia, son Daniel Garcia, daughter Leonore Garcia, son Joe Garcia, son Nick Garcia, and daughter Loretta and husband Eddie Nevarez.
