Julia Valenzuela Patiño, 95, of Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 10:48 on December 1, 2022. Julia was born on December 2, 1926 to Filomeno Valenzuela and Dolores Angulo in El Centro, California. She was the second of 11 children born to them. She was united in matrimony to Joaquin Patiño on December 17, 1946 and was blessed with four boys. Joaquin preceded her in death on February 3, 2014. Julia loved scrapbooking, crocheting, gardening, cooking everyone their favorite dishes, visiting with family and going to church. She was president of St. Thomas Alter Society in Arvin from 1970-1972. She taught religious education at her home in Arvin from 1968-1971 then moved to Bakersfield in 1972. She continued her membership in the Altar Society at St. Joseph for many years. Julia is survived by her four sons and their spouses Joaquin Jr. (Eva), Victor (Grace), Ernesto (Olivia), and Gabriel Patiño, 6 grandchilren, Felisa, Octavio, David, Carlos, Ernie Jr., and Julian, 6 great grandchildren, Alondra, Citlalli, Nicolas, Jacob, Calliope, and Damian, her sisters, Rosie Montellano, Annie Contreras, Hilda Sumaya, and brother Joe Valenzuela. She was preceded in death by brothers Carmen, Frank, Manuel, and sisters Lupe Gallardo, Mary Marmolejo, and Lola Pesina.
