Linda Marie Adame, 70, passed away on 07/18/2024 in Bakersfield, California. She was born on September 2, 1953 to Don and Dolores Mydland in Memphis Tennessee.
Linda grew up in Bakersfield, California where she attended Standard Elementary, Plantation Elementary and Greenfield Junior High. She graduated with honors from South High School in 1971. Linda followed her father and uncle’s footsteps working as a dedicated employee for PG&E for 38 years until she retired in 2013. At PG&E, Linda became among the first women to ever work as an Electrical Distribution Operator helping to shatter a glass ceiling in the industry. She was also heavily involved in the Pacific Service Employees Association where she helped organize countless bus trips to Dodger Stadium, softball tournaments, company picnics and the like.
Linda married her best friend, Jerry Adame (Bubba) in 2007 in Los Osos, California. Though they were happily married for over 17 years, they shared their lives together for over 28 years. Linda and Jerry were best friends and filled their marriage with many adventures, traveling all over the United States and Mexico including to Cancun for 9 consecutive years. They frequented Pismo Beach where they camped with many friends and loved ones.
Linda had many hobbies over the years including: camping, water skiing, snow skiing, billiards and fast pitch softball. She was even nicknamed “Scrap iron” for being the toughest softball catcher behind the plate. Linda became an avid pool player, playing alongside Bubba in numerous pool leagues over the years, which introduced her to hundreds of friends and acquaintances.
Linda adored her children and grandchildren. She encouraged all of them to be athletes and regularly attended numerous baseball, softball, football, and soccer games, even coaching baseball alongside her father, Don. Linda loved watching sports and was an avid fan of The Dodgers and Raiders. Linda also watched Nascar racing and attended several live races over the years.
Linda is survived by her mother, Dolores (Don) Mydland, husband, Jerry Adame, her daughter, Michelle Stillwell, her son, Jason (Kim) Balasis, and her brother, David (Yvonne) Mydland all out of Bakersfield California; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family as well as countless friends and loved ones.
Linda was preceded in Death by her father, Don Mydland and sister, Debra Mydland.
Funeral services will be held at Basham Funeral Home, 3312 Niles St. on August 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of Linda’s wonderful life at the Kern Law Enforcement Association Banquet Hall, 3417 Pegasus Drive at 1200 p.m. All are invited to attend one or both.
