Luzelva "Lucy" Martinez

Luzelva Martinez passed away on February 10, 2023 in Bakersfield, California. She was born on January 10, 1951 in Concho, Chihuahua Mexico to Irineo and Maria Carrillo. Luzelva grew up in Concho and Bakersfield. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1970. Directly after high school, she attended Santa Barbara Business College in 1970. Luzelva worked for Kern County Housing Authority for over 35 years. Luzelva married Alfredo Martinez in 1972 in Bakersfield, California. They were happily married for fifty years and celebrated with a family trip to Avila, California in September of 2022. She was an active member of Crossway Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving alongside her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Although she lived a good distance away, she was always near to offer support and help to her three boys and their families. Luzelva showed genuine hospitality and often entertained people at her house, cooking delicious meals. She loved to sing and often had music playing. In her younger years, she also enjoyed painting. She is survived by her husband, Alfred; son, Alfred Jr. and wife; son, Adan and wife; son, Andy and wife; five grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Luzelva was preceded in death by her sister, Lourdes Carrillo; brother, Carlos Carrillo; parents, Irineo and Maria Carrillo; granddaughter, Addison Martinez; sister, Rosalie Cruz.
