Manuel R. Torres November 2, 1937 – September 24, 2022 With great sadness the family of Manuel “Min” R. Torres announces his passing surrounded by his loved ones. Manuel was born in Arvin, California to Maximo and Josepha Torres. Manuel grew up in Arvin where he attended elementary and graduated from Arvin High in 1955. He met the love of his life Linda Estrada in 1953, married in 1957 and raised a family with three children. Manuel worked and eventually retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. After retirement he worked as manager for Mike Serban in the beverage and catering business. For countless years you would see Manuel beside his family serving beer during the Kern County Fair at the Budweiser Pavilion, Gun Shows, RV Shows and at Famoso Raceway. Manuel was a hard worker his entire life and provided for his family and always encouraged his children to have a diligent work ethic and would give you the shirt off his back after he yelled at you. For many years he took us on vacations for boating, fishing, and water skiing. Not forgetting the motorcycle riding where he would take neighborhood kids as well. His golden years were full of trips to Pismo Coast Village and Las Vegas. (“the crew” Eddie and Mary, Buddy and Bonnie, John and Baby, Connie and Concha, Phillip and Lupe, Valerie and Larry,) Manuel is survived by his wife Linda Torres, Son Keith Torres and daughter Valerie Lomely, son in law Larry, Grandsons Raymond Garcia and Klint Torres, Granddaughters Amber Torres, Kristen Torres, Karissa Torres-Porter and husband Mike, Korrina Nicewonger and husband Alan. Great Grandson’s Caden Robideaux and Ellis Porter, Great-granddaughter Charlotte. Brother Mark and wife Esther Torres, Buddy and Bonnie Valencia, Leonard Villanueva and numerous nieces and nephews He was proceeded in death by his loving son Jerome Torres, grandson Ty Torres, granddaughter Kandice Lynn and great granddaughter Katrina Pierson. Parents Maximo and Josepha Torres, Sisters Francis Valencia, Lupe and husband Phillip Tovar and Nephew and Nieces Patricia Saubert, Christopher Zuech, Mark and Lorie Torres Manuel was a devoted husband, grandfather and great grandpa, brother, uncle, nephew with a big bark and even bigger heart. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who know him.
