Melvin D. Crane

Melvin Darlmus Crane, age 85, died August 10, 2022, at his home in Arvin, California. He was born January 28, 1937, in Proctor, Oklahoma, the son of Lonnie and Myrl (Kindle) Crane.

Melvin married Wilma Sizemore in 1954 and together they had four children; Debbie Crane Moughler, Cynthia Terrell, Darla Byerly and Rick Crane. In 1997 he married Sharon Kay Moore and in November they would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

For many years Melvin was a driller for an oil company. When he wasn’t doing that he was a truck driver. He was not afraid of hard work. In his spare time he loved going out in the desert and hunting for gold. It was never profitable but it was a great hobby and he and Rascal spent many happy hours out there digging. And when he wasn’t doing that he loved fishing.

Melvin was preceeded in death by his parents, his stepfather Ed Watts, his brother Leon Crane and his sisters Patricia Crane and Carol Claiborne. He is survived by his wife Kay Crane, his brother Garry Watts, his four children and his stepdaughter Renee Moore, his 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
