Michael Salazar Sr.

Michael Salazar Sr., 63, passed on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Visitation will begin at 5 pm March 23, 2023 at Basham Funeral Care Chapel, 3312 Niles St. Bakersfield, CA. Rosary at 6 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, March 24, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church 9915 Ramos Ave. Bakersfield, CA. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Southwest.

Michael was born February 7, 1960 in Bakersfield, CA to Gilbert and Ernestina Salazar. He grew up surrounded by his cousins, Tias and Tios in East Bakersfield. He went to Foothill High School where he met life long friends. Michael married Yvonne October 1, 1983 and had 2 children.

Michael could be found every Sunday at Sacred Heart Church as an usher at the 10:30 am services. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Michael was a diehard fan of the Raiders, Lakers and Dodgers. One of his favorite pastimes was his love for WWE wrestling, a love he passed on to his son and granddaughter.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Ernestina Salazar.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne, children Michael and Stephanie, granddaughter Raelyn, mother in law Gregoria Leal, several sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Michael Salazar Jr., Ruben Martinez, Steven Villa, Roman Chavez, Lawrence Salazar, Kevin Randle, David Martinez, and Al Araujo.

Honorary Pallbearers are Armando Rocha, David Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Eddie Martinez, Noah Jara and Ethan Chavez.

The family of Michael wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of our family and friends that have been by our side. Our extreme gratitude to the firemen and emergency crew that worked tirelessly for Michael.
