Monica King-Seward

Monica King-Seward was born June 13, 1967 to parents, Leon and Noreen King in Bakersfield, CA. Monica attended Leo G. Pauly Elementary School and Golden State Jr. High, before graduating from South High School in 1985. Monica would later obtain her Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree from Bakersfield College. Monica would spend many of her early adult years as a manager of the United Artists 6 movie theaters in Bakersfield. While there she could be seen dancing through the theater to the sounds of Prince. In 1997 she joined the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) as a Correctional Officer; a job she would keep until her eventual passing. In 1998 Monica married the love of her life, Anthony Seward. Together they had two beautiful boys, Anthony Seward Jr. and Marquis Seward, and created several great memories including trips to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, and Hawaii. Monica had many hobbies; airbrushing, drawing, painting, riding unicycles - even a 6 foot tall one, doing gymnastics, and watching sports; her favorite team being the San Francisco 49ers. Monica departed this world on March 15, 2016 in Bakersfield, CA. She leaves to celebrate her life her husband Anthony Seward, two children Anthony Seward Jr. and Marquis Seward, her brothers and sisters; Kim Jenkins, Fredlisha Kindred Copeland, Alicia Kindred Edwards, Sean King, Valerie King, LaCresha Kindred Lebron, Natesha Kindred Johnson, Wren King, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Monica was preceded in death by her Father Leon King, her Mother Noreen King, her Brother Aaron King, and her grandmothers Elizabeth Lindsey and Naomi Smith. Monica's sharp wit, sly smile, dance moves, and love of life will be missed. Until we meet again.
