Celebrating the life of Pryscyla Russell

An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her?

Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls.

Proverbs 31:10 AMP

When reading the description of a worthy woman from God’s word in Proverbs 31, anyone who was blessed to know Pryscyla Russell would definitely see her personality and her life reflected in these verses. Pryscyla came into this world in San Diego, CA on October 19, 1975. From the start her parents Luis and Bekah Seda instilled in her the love of Christ and taught her to serve others in ministry from a young age. Proverbs 31 speaks of a noble woman as one who works hard to provide for her family, protecting them and making sure they have what they need. Pryscyla always went above and beyond to make sure her sons Ajoni and Ashanti and her daughter Makayla had what they needed, as well as her three grandchildren. Even when pain and fatigue tried to hold her back, Pryscyla pushed through to go the extra mile for her family and her church family as well. Proverbs 31 speaks of a woman who is an encourager and has wisdom to guide others when they come to her for advice. This also describes Pryscyla well. She always had an open door and a willing ear to listen when people needed to talk, and many came to her for advice as well as prayer. When Pryscyla was told by doctors in early August 2024 that cancer had once again invaded her body, she once again resolved to maintain her “Joy in the Journey” as she had done 10 years earlier in her battle with breast cancer. James 1:2 say we should consider it pure joy when we face trials and that is what Pryscyla did. During both of her battles with cancer, God gave Pryscyla opportunities to encourage and pray with many people including medical staff. Early in the morning on August 23, 2024, Pryscyla won her battle with cancer once and for all when Jesus took her home to be with Him forever. Pryscyla fought the good fight, she finished her race, and kept her faith to the very end of her journey on earth. She no doubt had a crown of righteousness waiting for her and was greeted by her Lord and Savior with the words, “Well done good and faithful servant!”
