Rafaela Lara De Arroyo

Rafaela Lara Arroyo, 75, passed away at her home on February 13th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in May of 1948 to Fructoso and Atilana Lara in Bajosori, Sinaloa. Fondly known as “Fala” and “la Güera”.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. 

Rafaela lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was not only a trailblazer but also a guiding light for her family. As the first member of her family to immigrate to the United States, she served as the waypoint from where the rest of her family would eventually come and settle here. She played an instrumental role in helping her loved ones navigate the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land, providing them with unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement. Her selflessness and dedication helped her family members become established and thrive in their new home.

Upon immigrating from Mexico, she settled in Shafter, California, where she began her career as a mayordoma, overseeing and managing with grace and diligence. She then transitioned to become a very skilled forklift driver for The Garlic Company, where she not only excelled in her role but also served as a voice for her fellow coworkers, advocating for their needs and concerns.  Rafaela would ultimately go on to be a successful entrepreneur, running a flower shop with passion and dedication for over 20 years. Her creativity and love for flowers brought joy to countless customers, and her business became a cherished part of the community.

She worked tirelessly throughout her life, selflessly sacrificing to provide for immediate family, extended family and friends.  The relationships she built will have an everlasting impact.
Rafaela was a generous provider, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Her ability to maintain her strength physically, mentally and spiritually to the very end, is an inspiration to us all.  Rafaela will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was and will continue to be well-loved. Her legacy of hard work, compassion, strength, and unlimited love will continue to inspire us.

Rafaela is survived by her children: Romulo, Araceli (spouse Michael), Javier Jr. (spouse Esther), Alfredo, Emmanuel, and Estevan (significant other Esmeralda); grandchildren: Hollye (spouse David), Juan Andres, Mary Luna, Michael Jr., Juan de Dios, Hernán Rafael, Jesus, Alondra, Javier III, Alfredo Jr., Sebastian Alfredo, Estrella Krystal, Diego Alfredo, Emmanuel Jr., and Nicolas; great-grandchildren: Avery, Elliott, Alfredo III, Daniel, Ema Rose, and Luna Mia; siblings: Victor, Rosario, Guadalupe, Maria de Jesus, and Ramon Fernando; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends.

Rafaela was preceded in death by her son Juan de Dios; parents Fructoso and Atilana; siblings: Aurora, Manuel de Jesus, and Francisco.

A small service and wake will be held in her honor on 

Tuesday, March 5th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Basham & Lara Funeral Care.

Final Services will be held  Wednesday, March 6th at noon

Rafaela Lara Arroyo, de 75 años, falleció en su casa el 13 de febrero rodeada de su amada familia. Nació en mayo de 1948, hija de Fructoso y Atilana Lara en Bajosori, Sinaloa. Conocida cariñosamente como “Fala” y “la Güera”. Su mayor alegría fue pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos.

Rafaela vivió una vida llena de amor, amabilidad y devoción a su familia. Ella no sólo fue una pionera sino también una luz guía para su familia. Como el primer miembro de su familia en inmigrar a los Estados Unidos, sirvió como punto de ruta desde donde los otros miembros de la familia eventualmente vendrían y se establecerían aquí. Desempeñó un papel fundamental al ayudar a sus seres queridos a afrontar los desafíos de empezar de nuevo en una tierra extranjera, brindándoles inquebrantable apoyo, orientación y ánimo. Su altruismo y dedicación ayudaron a los miembros de su familia a establecerse y prosperar en su nuevo hogar.

Al emigrar de México, se estableció en Shafter, California, donde comenzó su carrera como mayordoma, supervisando y administrando con gracia y diligencia. Luego hizo la transición para convertirse en una conductora de montacargas muy hábil para The Garlic Company, donde no solo se destacó en su función, sino que también sirvió como voz para sus compañeros de trabajo, defendiendo sus necesidades e inquietudes. Rafaela finalmente llegaría a ser una exitosa emprendedora, dirigiendo una floristería con pasión y dedicación por más de 20 años. Su creatividad y amor por las flores alegraron a innumerables clientes y su negocio se convirtió en una querida parte de la comunidad.

Trabajó incansablemente durante toda su vida, sacrificándose desinteresadamente para mantener a su familia inmediata, a su familia extendida y a sus amigos. Las relaciones que construyó tendrán un impacto eterno.

Rafaela fue una proveedora generosa, una madre, abuela, hermana, tía y amiga devota. Su capacidad para mantener su fuerza física, mental y espiritual hasta el final es una inspiración para todos nosotros.Todos los que la conocieron extrañaremos muchísimo a Rafaela. Ella fue y seguirá siendo muy querida. Su legado de trabajador duro, compasión, fuerza y amor ilimitado seguirán inspirándonos.

A Rafaela le sobreviven sus hijos/hija: Romulo, Araceli (esposo Michael), Javier Jr. (esposa Esther), Alfredo, Emmanuel, and Estevan (otra significativa Esmeralda); nietos/nietas: Hollye (esposo David), Juan Andres, Mary Luna, Michael Jr., Juan de Dios, Hernán Rafael, Jesus, Alondra, Javier III, Alfredo Jr., Sebastian Alfredo, Estrella Krystal, Diego Alfredo, Emmanuel Jr., and Nicolas; bisnietos/bisnietas: Avery, Elliott, Alfredo III, Daniel, Ema Rose, and Luna Mia; hermanos/hermanas: Victor, Rosario, Guadalupe, Maria de Jesus, and Ramon Fernando; numerosos sobrino, sobrinas y amigos muy especiales.

Rafaela fue precedida en la muerte por su hijo Juan de Dios; padres Fructoso y Atilana; hermanos/hermana: Aurora, Manuel de Jesus, and Francisco.

Se realizará un pequeño servicio y velorio en su honor 

el martes 5 de marzo de 5:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. en Basham & Lara Funeral Care.

Servicio funerario se llevará a cabo el miércoles 6 de marzo al mediodía.

Ceremonia de entierro en el cementerio de Shafter a las 2 p.m.
