Vivian Nikkel

Vivian Rae Nikkel was born August 16, 1948, in Glendale CA, She passed away in Bakersfield, November 21, 2023. Her parents were Richard and Joyce Nuckles.

Vivian lived in Bakersfield for nearly 50 years. She worked as a secretary, then opened "Vivian's Secretarial Service" which she operated until she married Stan Nikkel in 1983. Her first marriage had ended in divorce a few years earlier.

Vivian was an accomplished piano player and gave piano lessons. She also had an excellent singing voice, which she used in church choirs and as a soloist for weddings and funerals. She also appeared in several stage productions.

A celebration of life will be held December 4 to honor her memory. The service will be at 11:00 AM at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue.

Vivian is survived by her children, Beth O'Rourke and Michael Nikkel - one grandchild, Maxxine Nikkel; her father, brothers Steve and David, her step-children , Mayna and several nieces and nephews.

Vivian accepted Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 10 years old. She was never shy about telling people about her faith in Christ. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him may have eternal life".

Donations may be made in her memory to Valley Baptist Church, high school camp scholarships.
