"May the life I've lived speak for me"

John L Taylor, Sr. was born on April 28, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona, he was the second child born to Tom and Juanita Taylor. The family relocated to San Diego, California in 1947 where he attended the local public schools. His family later relocated to Buttonwillow, California where he attended public schools, graduating from Bakersfield High School. John met Roberta Hester and they were united in marriage on September 18, 1957. To this union five children were born, two daughters and three sons. After Roberta's death he met Daisy Hart, and in April 1993 they were married and in this combined family were a total of nine children. John L Taylor Sr. accepted Christ at an early age while attending Second Community Baptist Church under the leadership if Pastor L.H. White where he and his family sung in the Church. He later became a member of St. Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rev. R.L. Bonner where he was ordained and served faithfully as a deacon for 20 years. He was in the Union Local 220 for 20 years. He worked in the oil fields of Bakersfield, and later became a Farm Worker for Virgil Reeds Farms. After retiring from Virgil Reeds Farms, he became a Courier Express Driver and a Crossing Guard for the local elementary schools. He was in preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roberta Taylor; one grandson, David Williams, Jr.; his sister in law, Geraldine Taylor; two step sisters, Dorothy Horn and Shirley Morzett; uncle, Bob Taylor; brother and sister in law of the Hester Family and uncle and aunts of the Taylor Family. He leaves to cherish in his memory two daughters, Regina Taylor (Lonnie Ray Crawford, Jr.), Priscilla Love (Charles Love); three sons and daughter in laws, John L Taylor, Jr. & Catherine Taylor; Rory & Vola Taylor and Edward Dwayne Taylor, Jr. & Veronica Taylor all of Bakersfield, California; two brothers, James Taylor of Bakersfield, California and Jerry Taylor (Florence) of Newark, California; one sister Geneva Mae Taylor of Long View, Texas; his wife, Daisy Taylor of Bakersfield, California; good friend of Edward's, Jonia Williams; 21 grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; 40 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Special thanks to granddaughter, Jaynay Temple, great grandson, Keyron Scott and step granddaughter, Acacia Henderson for the caring of John until the end.
